Tuesday's Capital One Cup games

The game I chose to watch out of the 5 tonight was Reading V Arsenal, here is what I made of it along with the scores from the other 4 games on night one of the Capital One Cup fourth round.

Reading 5 - 7 Arsenal

What will Wenger do now, losing this game, hardly having a good time in the Champions League and off the pace in the Premier League....can they really turn it around?

This is what I would of said at half-time but not after the rest of that thrilling game. So I definitely predicted wrong, Reading being 3-0 within the first 20 minutes was not was I thought was going to happen. I guess its true what they say that things aren't always as they seem! Arsenal didn't even start very brightly, more sluggish and lethargic - not something you would expect from a team who want to be up there winning the trophies. Ten minutes from half time Reading make it 4-0, making it look seamlessly easy in the process. Walcott brings the slightest relief on 46 minutes by giving Arsenal a goal back as their fans start chanting 'we want our Arsenal back' - but would they really be able to overturn the deficit in the second half?

Second half, Reading start so lively and put Arsenal on the back-foot  they are just pinning them back into their own half. Nearly another own goal from Miquel. Arsenal looked sloppy especially with the talented Jason Roberts pulling the strings for this Reading side and honestly making it look easy to take Arsenal apart during the first 10 mins of second half.

Then Arsenal began to get better, taking it to 4-2, Giroud netting within minutes of coming on. Arsenal were beginning to look good, intensity, passing and movement was much better, could they really pull this off. Admittedly it had all gotten a bit dull until Arsenal somehow manage to get a controversial 4th goal in the 5th minute of what should only have been 4 minutes of added time. Extra time was looming.

After the shock of the first half, a defiant Arsenal managed to pull of the inevitable and win 7-5 in extra time, but they were certainly made to work for it.

Also, credit to Reading who valiantly fought hard to keep their half-time 4-1 lead, but it was just not to be although now they need to take this fighting spirit into the Premier League and start winning games because we know they know how to score some goals especially after tonight!

The other results:

Leeds 3-0 Southampton
Sunderland 0-1 Middlesbrough (at least I got one right!)
Swindon 2-3 Aston Villa
Wigan 0-0 Bradford - Bradford win 4-2 on penalties

Roll on the rest of the fourth round games tomorrow evening!
